However, some users are used to the old Windows Photo Viewer and want to make it as default image viewer in Windows 10. Now, this page will show you how to set Windows Photo Viewer as default image viewer in Windows 10. Three ways are illustrated below.

Review title of AndrewLots of potential, but a major flaw makes it unusable.

This app is well done and has lots of potential to be the best simple photo app available for Windows. However, I see one very major problem which might force me to discontinue using this app (unfortunately). It seems that the problem was brought up and responded to even 2 years ago, but issue seems to still be there. The problem is that sometimes, the app may simply not load (to session) all images available in the current folder.Example:: I double click on an image opening this app, then navigate through the list of images, however, many images may be missing from that list (which I've never seen happen with any other image viewer app).Based on what I read in the reviews, it may be an issue with 'indexed content'?I don't know how long I'll need to wait to be able to see all images as should be expected. This is a major issue with using this app, and something that should be resolved.Wish you best of luck, and I hope you'll be able to resolve this.

Hi Andrew,This does sound like an issue with the Windows indexer. Sometimes the Windows file indexer stops working properly, especially after a major Windows update. In that case when you launch an app with a file, the neighboring file list is not correctly provided to the app. First check that this is indeed the problem. Try opening the file in the same way with the built-in Photos app. If the same problem occurs, then it's likely this is the problem. If not then please get back to me.This can usually be fixed by rebuilding the file index. One way to do this is as follows. Right click on your drive letter (e.g. C:) in File Explorer, and uncheck the box at the bottom labelled 'Allow files to have their contents indexed..', click 'Apply', wait for it to finish, then check the box, click 'Apply' again and wait for it to finish. Note that this can take several hours (each time you click 'Apply') depending on your hard drive and number of files on it.
