Mar 04, 2016  A few months ago I upgraded the machine to Windows 10 and although I lost the use of XP mode I could still mount the vhd files. I've now got a new Windows 10 machine. When I copy the VHD files over to it I cannot mount them. I believe this is because XP mode used some sort of difference file. Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 installed by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) using OEM versions of these products may not be transferred to a virtual hard drive in accordance with Microsoft licensing terms.
